Spot Cleaner

Coffee on the sofa. Mud on the carpet. A little accident from the dog on the rug. Stains on upholstered furniture are annoying, but in many cases a spot cleaner helps remove them thoroughly. You don't have to take your sofa to the dry cleaner's or buy a new rug.

A spot cleaner removes stubborn stains from fabric surfaces such as sofas, carpets, mattresses and car seats. The machine dampens the fabric and immediately sucks the dirt back up. At Achaté you'll find the Spot Cleaner (650 W) for everyday stains and the Spot Cleaner PRO (1300 W), which also works with steam and hot water. Looking for the best spot cleaner? Read on.

Gray and black Achaté handheld steam cleaner with a flexible hose and a brush attachment designed for chemical-free, deep cleaning on multiple surfaces. Abstract light blue zigzag brushstroke on a pale beige background, creating a soft and minimalist visual pattern.

How does a spot cleaner work?

The Achaté Spot Cleaner dampens the fabric and immediately sucks the dirty water with the loosened dirt back up. The Spot Cleaner works with just water. No separate cleaning agent is needed. What's left is a clean, slightly damp surface that's dry within a few hours. The difference from blotting or scrubbing? The spot cleaner really pulls the dirt out of the fibres instead of smearing it around. Nasty odours disappear along with it, so your upholstered furniture doesn't just look clean, but smells fresh too.

The Spot Cleaner PRO (1300 W) goes a step further with a steam function and hot water up to 50 degrees. The steam of around 100 degrees dissolves stubborn dirt and grease. This lets you tackle older, deep stains that won't come out with water alone.

What do you use a spot cleaner for?

A spot cleaner is made for fabric surfaces in and around the house. Below are the most common uses:

Sofa and chairs

The sofa attracts stains like nothing else. With a wide suction nozzle you can quickly tackle large surfaces. For seams and corners, use a narrower nozzle. Leather or faux leather requires a different type of cleaning.

Carpet and rug

The combination of dampening and suction pulls dirt out of the deeper layers of the carpet. This is a lifesaver especially with pets: odours and stains that a regular vacuum cleaner can't get rid of do disappear with a spot cleaner.

Mattress

Sweat, skin flakes and dust mites sit deep in the fibres of your mattress. A spot cleaner removes this dirt in a way that airing alone can't. The Spot Cleaner PRO with steam also tackles bacteria here.

Car

Car seats and upholstery have a lot to put up with. The Achaté Spot Cleaner weighs 5 kg and has a 1.1-metre hose, compact enough to use in the car too.

When do you choose a spot cleaner and when a steam cleaner?

A spot cleaner and a steam cleaner both clean, but they're made for different situations. A spot cleaner dampens the fabric and sucks up the dirty water. Ideal for visible stains on sofas, carpets and mattresses. A steam cleaner uses heat to loosen dirt from hard surfaces such as tiles, floors and bathroom fixtures.

Want to get stains out of fabric upholstery? Then a spot cleaner is the better choice. Want to clean floors, bathroom and kitchen hygienically? Then a steam cleaner is more suitable. The Achaté Spot Cleaner PRO combines both techniques: it dampens and sucks like a spot cleaner, but also has a steam function for textiles. Want to make your daily vacuuming easier too? Then take a look at our robot vacuums that vacuum and mop in one go.

Why a spot cleaner from Achaté?

At Achaté you can choose from two of the brand's products, each for a different type of use:

  • Achaté Spot Cleaner (650 W): compact and effective for everyday stains. Works with just water, without a separate cleaning agent. Clean water tank of 1.2 litres, dirty water tank of 1.4 litres. Suitable for sofas, carpets and car upholstery.

  • Achaté Spot Cleaner PRO (1300 W): the same spray and suction function, plus steam of around 100 degrees and hot water up to 50 degrees. The steam dissolves stubborn dirt and grease that won't come out with water alone. Suitable for deep stains and more intensive use.

Both models weigh 5 kg, have a 1.1-metre hose and come with several attachments. They work without chemical cleaning agents. Better for your health and for the environment. Besides stains, want to clean your hard floors thoroughly too? Then take a look at an electric mop for daily maintenance.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best spot cleaner?

The best spot cleaner depends on what you want to clean. For everyday stains on sofas and carpets, the Achaté Spot Cleaner (650 W) is all you need. For older or stubborn stains, the Spot Cleaner PRO (1300 W) with steam and hot water is more effective. When choosing, pay attention to suction power, tank capacity and whether the machine has attachments for different surfaces.

Which is better, a steam cleaner or a spot cleaner?

Whether a steam cleaner or a spot cleaner is better depends on the problem. A spot cleaner is better for deep stains in fabric upholstery. It dampens the fabric and sucks up the dirt. A steam cleaner works with heat and is stronger at cleaning hard surfaces such as tiles and floors. For visible stains on your sofa or carpet, choose a spot cleaner. For hygiene on hard surfaces, steam is more effective.

What is the best stain remover?

The best stain remover for fabric surfaces like sofas, carpets and mattresses is often an electric spot cleaner. The machine combines dampening and suction, pulling dirt out of the deep fibres. For small stains on clothing, a spray stain remover may be enough. For large surfaces or recurring stains, a spot cleaner makes the difference.

What is the best product for removing stains?

The best product for removing stains depends on the type of stain. The Achaté spot cleaners work with just water. No separate cleaning agent is needed. For removing stains by hand, enzymatic cleaners work well on organic stains such as coffee, wine or pet stains. Avoid bleach on coloured fabrics. Most importantly: the sooner you treat a stain, the better the result.
